Stopped for lunch. It is a take out mostly but the owner/cook accomodated us to sit a a table. The cod was divine. Really really good fish.
Talk about real hospitality, ordered way past closing. Filled the order and let us eat inside despite this being a take out. The cod was so fresh, by far the best I've ever had and I spend a lot of time fishing and cooking myself! Fish platter with an extra piece is what had. Ice cream for appetizer which was also real thick creamy soft serve. Well worthy of a tour in itself for some fantastic fresh fish very lightly battered. Not a thick standard beer batter, home made starter sauce home made vinegar home made recipes, just fantastic.
Such a delicious place! We’re fairly new to the area for work, and I think we’ve eaten here almost every week (sometimes multiple times, haha). All of the food is fantastic and the service couldn’t be any better! Janet is so kind and an absolute riot. You gotta check out this hidden gem!
Went their with my girlfriend, the lady is so sweet she guided us to nearby spots to look at and was the sweetest old lady ever, I hope she is always happy and the the food omg it was so good and the portions were so big we loved it def going back soon
We were just touring and needed a bite of lunch. This was the only place on the map in Pouch Cove. Just as we walked in the skies opened up. The very kind lady offered to let us sit in the other room instead of eating in the car. This was the Newfoundland hospitality that we’ve heard about. It was just a hotdog and a grilled cheese sandwich, with coffee, but the hospitality made them the best we’ve had. If I return I will be back for the fish!! And thanks for letting us share the table to the construction guys who were eating there too!
The restaurant is named after the schooner Waterwitch which ran aground nearby and whose crew was rescued by the local fishermen. The place is take out only and serves various deep-fried goodies. I personally really enjoyed the cod bites but I'd ask for extra dressing as the food was on the blander side. A pro move is to picnic at the nearby William Tuff Lookout.
Visited the Water Witch Take Out for the first time. I ordered the seafood platter. Three large scallops, 5 shrimp , one large piece of cod fish & a mountain of fries. Great prices . Absolutely delicious and a great deal of $15 + tax. I highly recommend eating there if you're in the area or better yet , just take a drive out to visit the area. Greg West St.John's
We just tried the fish from Water Witch and wow. We are from Calgary, Alberta and sadly don't get fish like this out there. She was so wonderful to pan fry it for us as deep frying is not good for either of us. We truly enjoyed our dinner as we watched the boats sail and the gulls flew. Wonderful experience all round.
